Generic drug manufacturer Major Rugby has issued a voluntary recall of its levothyroxine sodium tablets due to sub-potency.
The recall involves 25-µg, 50-µg, 75-µg, 88-µg, 112-µg, 125-µg, and 150-µg tablets, sold in either 10x10 or 10x1 blister packs. Some are distributed by Cardinal Health.
In a letter posted on July 10, 2026, Major Rugby advised customers that the recall "has been initiated due to out of specification results obtained during routine stability testing for Assay. Use of this product is not likely to cause adverse health effects."
The US FDA Enforcement Report labeled the product a "subpotent drug."
The product was initially shipped on January 22, 2025.
