In collaboration with the Spanish Society of Emergency and Urgent Medicine, FARO Educación has developed VR training experiences focused on critical clinical scenarios, including management of major trauma, stroke emergencies, acute asthma exacerbations, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

“The greatest advantage of this technology is that it allows healthcare professionals to practice highly complex or infrequently encountered situations in which rapid and effective action is essential,” del Castillo said.

Future Direction

According to del Castillo, VR holds considerable promise in both the short and medium terms.

“It offers complete immersion in simulated high-risk environments, allowing professionals to make mistakes, learn from them, and repeat scenarios as often as necessary,” she said.

Looking ahead, she expects healthcare education to be shaped by the convergence of multiple technologies.

“We are likely to see greater integration of tools such as mixed reality, which combines virtual elements with real-world environments, as well as the use of big data to analyze learner performance in real time and tailor educational pathways more effectively,” del Castillo said.

Clinical simulation, VR, and digital learning platforms have transformed many educational institutions. The next stage, she said, would extend beyond recreating the clinical scenarios.

“The goal will be to better understand how each professional learns, identify areas that require additional development, and provide more personalized support before they enter clinical practice,” she said.
